Learn the skills and knowledge necessary to be a valuable auto technician. You will learn to use up-to-date electronic diagnostic equipment, measurement devices and standard hand tools to precisely diagnose, service and repair cars, SUV’s and light duty trucks. The Automotive Technical Training program at Western Suffolk BOCES is accredited by the Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation.

Western Suffolk BOCES’ program offers a low student-to-teacher ratio that allows many opportunities for highly personalized, hands-on instruction. The program helps prepares students to work in auto dealer-ships, auto repair shops or similar settings as an entry-level automotive technician. Classes are held at Western Suffolk BOCES.

What are the basic requirements to be an Automotive Technician?

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent plus a satisfactory score on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) which is given several times a year at Western Suffolk BOCES. Excellent personal references and a personal interview are also required.
